One way for you to support The Arc Erie County New York’s mission is to leave us a bequest. A bequest is a gift made to charity in your will or trust and leaves a lasting legacy by supporting the work of The Arc Erie County. One significant benefit of making a gift by bequest is that it allows you to continue to use the assets/property you may leave to charity during your life. With the help of an advisor, you can include language in your will or trust specifying a gift be made to family, friends and The Arc Erie County New York as part of your estate plan. Bequest of Specific Personal Property

Bequest of Specific Real Estate
I hereby give, devise and bequeath all of the right, title and interest in and to the real estate located at (ADDRESS OR DESCRIPTION OF PROPERTY) to The Arc Erie County New York, a non-profit organization located at 30 Wilson Road, Williamsville, NY 14221 and Federal Tax ID # 16-0769044, for The Arc Erie County New York’s general use and purpose.

Bequest of Percentage of an Estate
I hereby give, devise and bequeath (PERCENTAGE OF YOUR ESTATE) to The Arc Erie County New York, a non-profit organization located at 30 Wilson Road, Williamsville, NY 14221 and Federal Tax ID # 16-0769044, for The Arc Erie County New York’s general use and purpose

Restricted Bequest
If you are considering a bequest but would like to ensure that your bequest will be used only for a specific purpose, please let us know. We would be happy to work with you and your attorney to help you identify ways to give that will ensure your charitable objectives can be met. We will also work with you and your attorney to craft language to accomplish your objectives. If you are making a restricted bequest, we recommend that your attorney include the following provision to give The Arc Erie County New York flexibility should it no longer be possible for The Arc Erie County New York to use your gift as you originally intended:

If, in the judgment of the Board of Directors of The Arc Erie County New York, it shall become impossible for The Arc Erie County New York to use this bequest to accomplish the specific purposes of this bequest, The Arc Erie County New York may use the income and principal of this gift for such purpose or purposes as the Board determines is most closely related to the restricted purpose of my bequest.

What are my giving options?

The charitable IRA rollover is a special provision allowing particular donors of a specified age to exclude from taxable income—and count toward their required minimum distribution—certain transfers of Individual Retirement Account (IRA) assets that are made by donation directly to public charities. With the help of your IRA Plan Administrator, you can lower the income and taxes from your IRA withdrawals by making a charitable gift to The Arc Erie County New York.

How a Gift Made Through Your IRA Works

  1. Contact your IRA plan administrator to make a gift from your IRA to us.

  2. Your IRA funds will be directly transferred to our organization to help continue our important work.

  3. Please note that IRA charitable gifts do not qualify for a charitable deduction.

  4. Please contact us if you wish for your gift to be used for a specific purpose.

IRA Charitable Rollover 

Giving a gift of stock or mutual fund is an easy way to support The Arc Erie County New York. Just as with cash gifts, you will receive a federal income tax deduction for the full market value of any securities you donate, as long as you have owned them for at least one year. You may also avoid the capital gains taxes you would owe if you sold these securities.

How to Give the Gift of Stock

1. Initiate the Stock Transfer. It is necessary for you to contact your broker to initiate the transfer.

2. Notify The Arc Erie County New York about your generous gift at Info@arceriecounty.org. We will provide you with the necessary banking details to complete the transaction!

3. Send the Securities to The Arc Erie County New York
